ORLEN Motorsport Academy Runs to 2027, With One Driver in US IndyNXT
ORLEN's motorsport academy, run with the Polski Zwiazek Motorowy, has placed one of its drivers, Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, in the American IndyNXT series and another, Maciej Gladysz, in Formula 3, according to Pawel Pecak of the association's Main Board Presidium.
The current programme started in 2025 and followed a change in the roles of the bodies responsible for motorsport in Poland. Its present formula is planned to run to 2027, with discussions on what comes next already under way.
The division of labour between the refiner and the federation is explicit. The Polski Zwiazek Motorowy handles the sporting assessment of competitors, while ORLEN provides financial support and training in personal brand-building in the media. That second element separates the academy from earlier federation schemes, which rested mainly on reimbursing the costs of race entries and testing.
Recruitment is overseen by a project team drawn from ORLEN, the PZM and motorsport experts. Pecak said selection weighs sporting results and a driver's rate of progress above all, alongside communication criteria, fair play conduct, participation in domestic and international series, and prior work with racing teams.
Beyond Gladysz and Kucharczyk, Pecak named Jan Przyrowski and Borys Lyzen as drivers making considerable progress within the programme.
The stated purpose is preparation rather than placement alone: the academy is meant to ready drivers for the higher karting categories and for first steps in Formula 4 and Formula 3. It has supported Poland's most talented karting and racing drivers for close to two years.
Pecak also set a limit on the model. ORLEN cannot carry the entire responsibility for developing Polish talent on its own, he said, and other partners will need to commit.
