Pertamina NRE Logs 6.29 Million Safe Work Hours and 0.00 TRIR Through August 2026
PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy recorded 6.29 million safe work hours through August 2026, alongside a Total Recordable Incident Rate of 0.00 and zero fatal accidents, according to Kompas.com.
The hours split between two workforce categories: 1.79 million hours logged by employees and 4.49 million by work partners. The contractor share is the larger of the two, a distribution that matters because subcontracted crews typically carry the heavier exposure on construction and commissioning sites, and because reported incident rates at asset operators often exclude them.
John Anis, president director of Pertamina NRE, said prevention of major accidents starts with leadership that consistently places safety within every operational decision and activity. The statement was issued in writing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The subholding is reinforcing application of Pertamina's three Golden Rules: Patuh, Intervensi and Peduli, translating as compliance, intervention and care.
The safety figures were presented at the Grand HSSE Meeting of the Power & New Renewable Energy subholding, held at PT Jawa Satu Power in Cilamaya, Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
That venue is one of the heaviest assets in the portfolio. PT Jawa Satu Power operates the Jawa-1 combined-cycle gas turbine plant with installed capacity of 1,760 MW, built as two generating units of 880 MW each. The plant is integrated with a floating storage and regasification unit, a 500 kV transmission network and a 500 kV gas-insulated substation.
That integration is what gives the zero-incident claim its weight. A site combining an offshore FSRU, high-voltage switchgear at 500 kV and two large gas turbine trains stacks marine, thermal and electrical hazards in one operating envelope. Health, safety, security and environment performance across such a mix is the metric international lenders and offtakers scrutinise when pricing project risk in emerging-market power assets.
Anis said the company remains committed to achieving zero major accidents and to building a consistent and sustainable HSSE culture.
For an investor base outside the region, the disclosure sits in a category that state-owned energy groups rarely publish with this granularity: a headline hour count, a split between direct and contracted labour, and a recordable-incident rate stated at 0.00 rather than as a range or an index. A TRIR of 0.00 means no recordable injuries were logged over the reported exposure, which is the strictest reading of the metric and leaves no room for a rounding gap.
The separation of employee and partner hours also allows external readers to test the number rather than accept it. At 4.49 million partner hours against 1.79 million employee hours, the contractor base carries roughly two and a half times the recorded exposure, so a zero recordable rate is a claim about supply-chain discipline as much as about in-house procedure.
Pertamina NRE is the renewables and new energy arm of PT Pertamina (Persero). Muhammad Baron serves as vice president of corporate communication at PT Pertamina (Persero).
