Petrobras Backs New Brazilian Women's Football Award Ahead of 2027 World Cup
Petrobras and Empresa Brasil de Comunicacao (EBC) have launched the first edition of the Premio TV Brasil Petrobras Para Elas, an award for women's football in Brazil, with the trophy ceremony set for November 15, 2026 in Sao Paulo.
The state-controlled oil producer is putting its brand behind a competition that will honour players, coaches, technical staff, managers and clubs across the 2026 season, according to SCBR News. EBC opened the national call for entries and is running the award in partnership with Petrobras.
The structure splits judging between industry insiders and the public. Technical categories will be decided by representatives of Serie A1 clubs, alongside one popular-vote category. Categories include Melhor Jogadora da Temporada and Craque da Torcida, with public voting for Craque da Torcida opening in August.
The programme also carries a dedicated social component. Organisers will grant the Premio Especial Futebol Feminino Contra o Feminicidio, recognising club actions against violence against women.
For Petrobras, the placement sits inside a defined event horizon rather than an open-ended brand campaign. The award is presented as part of the strategic legacy actions for the 2027 Women's World Cup, which Brazil will host. A related item on the same page notes that Brazil will host the 2027 tournament with 32 national teams.
The broadcast side belongs to the state broadcaster. The ceremony will be carried on TV Brasil. Antonia Pellegrino, president of EBC, said TV Brasil has established itself as the "tela do futebol feminino", showing the main championships and youth categories.
SCBR News describes the award as a response to the absence of an honour dedicated exclusively to women's football in Brazil. The campaign runs under the slogan "Celebrando quem faz historia no futebol feminino" and aims to bring athletes closer to the public.
Commercial interest around the same tournament cycle is not limited to the state pairing. A related item reports that Globo presented a commercial project for the 2027 Women's World Cup, published on July 30 at 16:15.
Sponsorship of this kind attaches a hydrocarbon producer's name to a property whose audience is being built rather than bought at peak. The competition schedule fixes the visibility window: entries and public voting run through August, the season being judged is 2026, and the ceremony lands in November, roughly the midpoint between the launch and the tournament Brazil will stage.
Agencia Brasil - EBC published its item on the launch of the call for entries on July 29 at 20:28. The Daily Journal article on the announcement was signed by Daily IA and published on July 29 at 21:45. The SCBR News report was signed by Bruno Saldanha and dated July 29, 2026.
