Sungrow Backs Turkish-Branded Central Inverter Plant in Ankara With 2.8 GW Start
ELIN A.S. has signed a strategic cooperation protocol with Sungrow to manufacture modular central inverters in Turkey, with output carrying ELIN A.S.'s own brand rather than the Chinese supplier's, according to a release issued in Munich on June 24, 2026.
The plant will be built in Ankara. Production starts at an annual capacity of 2.8 GW and is planned to rise to 4.2 GW under the company's future plans.
That branding arrangement is the part worth marking. Sungrow, described in the release as the world's largest solar inverter manufacturer, is supplying global technology know-how while the partner sells the finished units under its own name.
Commissioning is targeted for the final quarter of 2026, according to Arda Yali, chairman of the board of ELIN Enerji. First shipments are announced for the first quarter of 2027.
The product range covers high-technology units of 1100 kW, 3300 kW and 4400 kW, aimed in particular at YEKA projects, energy storage applications and ground-mounted solar plants.
Yali framed the venture as combining Turkish engineering capability, ELIN A.S.'s 45 years of manufacturing experience and Sungrow's global technology base.
ELIN Enerji is described in the release as a leader in its sector and in Europe by solar panel production capacity. The Ankara line extends that position from modules into power electronics, the segment where central inverters convert direct current from large arrays into grid-compatible alternating current.
Central inverters at the 3300 kW and 4400 kW ratings sit at the utility-scale end of the market, where a small number of global suppliers dominate shipments. A licensing structure that leaves the brand with the local manufacturer changes how that supply is counted: the technology origin and the nameplate no longer match.
The signing ceremony was held in Munich. Turkish outlets including Yeni Kalem and Ek Haberler carried the release on July 8, 2026.
Capacity of 2.8 GW a year, rising to a planned 4.2 GW, is meaningful against the storage and ground-mounted pipeline the products target. Whether the second phase arrives depends on the company's future plans, which the release does not tie to a date.
