Sungrow Tops Wood Mackenzie BESS Integrator Ranking as UK Projects Anchor Its European Portfolio
United Kingdom energy projects sit inside the portfolio of the company Wood Mackenzie now ranks first among global battery energy storage system (BESS) integrators. Sungrow took the top position in the consultancy's global BESS integrator ranking, and the United Kingdom is one of three European markets where it says it is active in major energy projects, alongside Belgium and Spain.
The ranking lands as annual global battery storage installations passed 100 GW for the first time in 2025, described as a milestone for the industry worldwide.
Sungrow estimates it will supply 10 GWh of PowerTitan 3.0 across Europe in 2026. That European volume runs alongside its largest single award to date: a 7.5 GWh project with Masdar in Abu Dhabi, which the company describes as the first giga-scale solar storage project operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"Wood Mackenzie's recognition underlines Sungrow's strong position in a fast-growing global energy market," said Moritz Rolf, vice president of Sungrow Europe, responsible for the DACH, Benelux, Nordic and Turkey regions.
Suppliers in both Wood Mackenzie rankings were assessed against 10 key criteria, including technology maturity, research and development investment, safety, vertical integration, supply chain resilience, ESG performance and financial strength. Sungrow also received a grade A rating from the consultancy on that basis.
Wood Mackenzie publishes the ranking reports every six months, examining production capacity, technology, supply volumes and financial metrics.
As of December 2025, Sungrow had installed more than 1,000 GW of power electronic converters worldwide. The company operates a network of 520 service points and says it has been a pioneer in sustainable energy solutions for more than 29 years.
Beyond the storage integrator table, BloombergNEF ranks Sungrow as the world's most bankable brand in photovoltaic inverters, energy storage systems and power conversion systems (PCS). Bankability rankings matter to project financiers assessing counterparty risk on long-dated storage assets, and they sit next to the Wood Mackenzie criteria set that weighs financial strength and supply chain resilience.
Beyond Europe, the company is expanding across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America. The Abu Dhabi award with Masdar is the anchor of that Middle East position.
