The Port Authority of A Coruña awarded the Langosteira quay extension that will enable Repsol to transfer its entire terminal from San Diego to Langosteira. The construction budget is EUR 10.1 million.

The A3 quay extension at A Coruña's Outer Port is intended to provide a berth for liquid bulk cargoes. The project will extend the southern end of Langosteira's A3 quay by 60 metres. The extension will use two concrete caissons, each 30 metres long, built at Punta Langosteira.

The contract was awarded to a consortium comprising Dragados, OHL/SATO and Prace. The construction work has a 12-month completion period. The project will be the first in Spain's port system to apply green public procurement criteria to concrete and steel.

The awarded berth is designed for ships of up to 50,000 tonnes deadweight and 186 metres in length. Repsol will allocate EUR 25 million for loading and unloading arms, control and safety systems, and facilities for operating personnel at the quay.

Repsol has handled its coke and sulphur solid-bulk traffic at Langosteira since 2015. In 2023, following an investment of EUR 126 million, Repsol transferred oil imports to A Coruña's Outer Port. In 2025, the Port Authority and Repsol agreed the conditions for completing the terminal transfer.

Repsol will invest another EUR 140 million to complete the transfer, including new infrastructure and equipment at Langosteira and modifications to its A Grela industrial complex.

In a later tender, the Port Authority will build another berth on the southern side of the jetty Repsol uses to unload crude, and that project is currently being tendered.
