Capalo AI to Trade Baltic Hybrid Solar-Storage Projects for European Energy
Two hybrid solar-plus-storage projects in Lithuania and Latvia will be routed to market by Capalo AI, a Finnish battery optimizer, under a trading and market-access agreement with Danish developer European Energy.
The deal, reported by pv magazine and ESS News, covers trading and market access for the paired photovoltaic and battery assets at both sites.
Capalo AI's Zeus VPP platform currently has 1.6 GW of batteries and 460 MWp of solar under management. Trading and optimization are running live on 600 MW of that battery fleet and 300 MWp of the solar.
The company closed a EUR 11 million (USD 12.8 million) Series A earlier this year, with Heartcore Capital leading the round.
Lithuania's government has cleared support for up to roughly 1.7 GW/4 GWh of new storage capacity. That approved volume is close to three times the 600 MW of battery capacity Capalo AI has live in trading today.
Hybrid configurations put solar generation and battery capacity behind a shared route to market, which is the service Capalo AI is contracted to supply on the Lithuanian and Latvian sites.
The Series A gives the optimizer capital as Lithuania's storage support program moves toward buildout.
Neither the capacity of the two hybrid projects nor the length of the trading agreement was disclosed.
