Pertamina Patra Niaga Cooks 8,100 Portions Across Eight Cities in LPG Cylinder Swap Push
Pertamina Patra Niaga cooked 8,100 portions of soy-caramel chicken simultaneously in eight Indonesian cities on Sunday, September 6, 2026, taking a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record and, at the Medan site, running a counter that swapped two 3 kg LPG cylinders for one 5.5 kg Bright Gas cylinder.
The eight cities were Medan, Palembang, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Makassar, Jayapura and Balikpapan. The event carried the title "Warisan Nusantara dari Hati, Cetak Rekor Indonesia (MURI) bersama Bright Gas" and was staged for National Customer Day.
Medan accounted for 750 of the 8,100 portions, according to Indomedia.co, which reported the regional event at Lapangan Merdeka Medan. Palembang cooked 1,000 portions, said Rusminto Wahyudi, Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel.
The product being promoted is the branded cylinder, not the cooking. Sunardi, Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut, said the company wanted to show that Bright Gas is not only an energy product for cooking needs but also part of people's activities and lives.
Alongside the swap offer, the Medan programme handed 100 Bright Gas 5.5 kg cylinders to micro, small and medium enterprises in the city. Promotions at the Pertamina Patra Niaga booth and free health checks ran at the same site. A further 100 packages of staple foods went to online motorcycle-taxi drivers in Medan.
The national execution was led by Pertamina Patra Niaga chief executive Mars Ega Legowo Putra over a live link from Jakarta. Pertamina board of commissioners president Mochamad Iriawan also cooked at the Jakarta event.
Distribution of the food followed the customer-facing logic of the day. In Palembang, portions went to customers of the SPBU COCO Plaju filling station, to online motorcycle-taxi driver communities, and to officers working on forest and land fires. Manggala Agni and BPBD teams on duty at those fires received food, as did children at orphanages. The Palembang activity was centred on the Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel office on Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Plaju, before moving to the SPBU COCO Plaju station at Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani No 365 A.
In Medan, the 750 portions were distributed to the public and to four orphanages: Panti Asuhan Al Washliyah P. Brayan, Panti Asuhan William Booth, Panti Asuhan Evangelline Booth and Panti Asuhan Ade Irma Suryani.
About 100 people cooked in Palembang, drawn from Pertamina workers, the Persatuan Wanita Patra and mentored small enterprises. Sunardi thanked the North Sumatra provincial government, the Medan city administration and the Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia for supporting the event.
Rusminto Wahyudi said the MURI record was not the main objective, describing the exercise as thanking customers and sharing with the public.
The cylinder-swap ratio is the part of the day with commercial consequence for a state fuel distributor: two smaller cylinders exchanged for one larger branded unit shifts a household onto a different product line. Pairing that offer with cylinders handed to small businesses puts the same product in front of commercial cooking demand.
A separate account of a simultaneous cooking activity in eight cities, published by Totabuanews on totabuan.news, attributed a MURI record to Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi and tied the activity to the commemoration of Hari Pelanggan Nasional 2023, with hundreds of participants drawn from employees, partners and community members preparing dishes using Pertamina products. The Branch Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Sulawesi said the activity was meant to show Pertamina's commitment to serving the public.
