Centrus to Supply HALEU Fuel for Radiant's Kaleidos Microreactors Under Multi-Year Contract

Centrus Energy and Radiant have signed a multi-year contract under which Centrus will supply high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) fuel to deploy multiple Kaleidos transportable microreactors, according to Neutron Bytes.

Centrus will begin delivering the HALEU before the end of the decade, adding a domestic fuel source to support commercial scale-up of the Kaleidos fleet, Neutron Bytes reported.

The agreement includes prepayments from Radiant to Centrus intended to support Centrus's domestic commercial enrichment capacity program. The Kaleidos design uses 19.5% U235 TRISO fuel, per Neutron Bytes.

Radiant is targeting its first fuel load in 2028 for a microreactor slated for construction at the U.S. Army's Fort Benning base in Georgia. Separately, a 1-MWe Kaleidos unit is slated to be built at Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado.
