IAEA sees global nuclear capacity more than tripling by 2060

Global nuclear power capacity could more than triple by 2060, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The IAEA's high-case scenario puts installed capacity in 2060 at 3.4 times its end-2025 level. That baseline stood at 377.1 GWe from 413 operating reactors worldwide at the end of 2025, the agency said.

EIB backs first SMR investment with EUR 40 million for Steady Energy, EUR 100 million for Klaipėda port

The European Investment Bank is making its first investment in small modular reactor technology, committing up to EUR 40 million to Finland-based startup Steady Energy, according to an EIB press release.

Separately, the EIB is providing a EUR 100 million loan to upgrade Lithuania's largest seaport, Klaipėda, into what the bank describes as a strategic gateway for defence, energy and trade in the Baltic region.

The two financings, announced by the EIB, mark the bank's entry into SMR technology funding alongside a dual-use port upgrade covering defence and clean-energy applications.
