COP31 hosting deal in Türkiye revives non-interference clause
Participants at COP31 in Antalya will carry a duty not to interfere in Türkiye's internal affairs, under the hosting agreement between the Turkish government and the UN climate secretariat, according to Climate Home News.
The provision sits inside a binding agreement that sets out responsibilities over logistical arrangements and details participants' rights and obligations, Climate Home News reported.
The clause had been dropped for last year's climate summit in Brazil. Human rights groups warned that its revival could put activists at risk, according to Climate Home News.
