Boot Hill Solar Comes Online in Western Kansas

Boot Hill Solar has come online in western Kansas, with its output committed to Sunflower Electric Power Corp. under a long-term power purchase agreement.

Representatives expect the project to generate nearly 400 GWh of electricity per year, which currently represents about 9% of Sunflower's energy needs.

According to Sunflower officials, the site contains 394,960 bifacial, single-axis tracking panels and 39 inverters across about 1,000 acres of land.

Sunflower Electric Power Corp. is a Kansas-based electric generation and transmission utility.

Kansas had 471 MW of installed solar capacity as of Q1 2026, ranking 41st in the Solar Energy Industries Association's (SEIA) Solar State By State rankings.
