Western Australia Needs 125 GWh of Storage by 2035, Beyond Zero Emissions Finds
Western Australia will require 125 GWh of energy storage and 40.5 GW of renewable generation by 2035, according to a report from independent think tank Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) covered by ESS News.
Construction is running far behind those volumes. In the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), 8% of the required generation capacity and 11% of the required storage is under construction, ESS News reported.
The gap is wider in the north. For the North West Interconnected System (NWIS), the equivalent figures are 9% of needed generation capacity and 2% of needed storage, according to the BZE report.
