Asian manufacturers capture gains from AI data center buildout, economists say

Major Asian economies are drawing revenue from the global buildout of AI infrastructure by producing the high-end equipment feeding the worldwide data center boom, economists told Semafor Net Zero.

Goldman Sachs economists said corporate profits are climbing quickly at manufacturers serving that demand, lifting tax receipts in Seoul and Taipei and financing higher government spending in both capitals.

Barclays said Japan sits further up the supply chain, producing the semiconductor manufacturing equipment used by other Asian economies making chips for AI systems.
