Named officials front Western Power community battery rollout

Western Power's community battery rollout for its isolated grid is being led by named state and federal energy officials, according to Renew Economy.

Gair Landsborough is Acting Chief Executive Officer of Western Power, the utility operating the network at the centre of the program.

Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA is the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation. Josh Wilson MP is the Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy.

Western Power carries delivery responsibility on the operator side, with Sanderson on the state portfolio and Wilson on the federal side. Battery sizing, siting, and funding splits were not disclosed.

The acting title held by Landsborough indicates the top role sits on an interim basis. Next steps include formal program documentation from Western Power and procurement notices for the batteries.
