Bentley debuts Torcal, its first electric vehicle, in London

Bentley unveiled the Torcal, its first all-electric vehicle, at a global debut in London, according to Electrek.

The SUV delivers up to 888 PS, equivalent to 876 hp, Electrek reported.

Electrek said the battery pack carries 113 kWh of net capacity. Range is rated at up to 375 miles, or 600 km, on the WLTP cycle, per the same report.

BYD's Yangwang flagship sedan set to introduce coach doors, five-minute charging and possible solid-state cells

BYD's forthcoming Yangwang flagship sedan will carry rear-hinged coach doors, five-minute Flash Charging, and possibly solid-state batteries, according to Electrek. It would be the automaker's first model fitted with rear-hinged coach doors.

Electrek, citing local reports and CarNewsChina, said the ultra-luxury sedan may be the first BYD vehicle to use solid-state EV batteries.

BYD executive vice president Stella Li said the company's first vehicle equipped with solid-state batteries is set to debut in 2027, according to Electrek.

FinDreams, BYD's battery business, aims to begin limited-batch production of sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries in 2027 and scale to mass production by 2030, Electrek reported.

Toyota Prepares Electric Corolla With 250-Mile Range for 2028 Model Year

Toyota is preparing to launch an electric version of the Corolla, according to Electrek. The move would take Toyota's best-selling nameplate into the battery-electric segment for the first time.

The next-generation Corolla is expected to debut in 2027 as a 2028 model-year vehicle, Electrek reported. The electric variant is expected to be offered in single- and dual-motor configurations, with a driving range of at least 250 miles.

Nio to Close Cologne and Weiterstadt Hubs, Leaving Munich as Sole German Location

Nio will shut its hubs in Cologne and Weiterstadt near Frankfurt at the end of September 2026, according to electrive.

Once the two sites close, Munich will be Nio's only hub in Germany and its only in-house workshop location in the country, electrive reported.

The company cited current market conditions and the restructuring of its European business as the reason for the closures, per electrive.

Slovenia Ends EV Purchase Subsidies, Shifts Focus to Charging Infrastructure

Slovenia will stop paying subsidies for electric vehicle purchases and reorient state support toward charging infrastructure, electrive reported.

Energy and Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec said the state "will definitely discontinue subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles," according to electrive.

Around EUR 2.5 million is available for slower charging stations, and approximately EUR 25 million will be allocated next year for charging stations within and outside the TEN-T network, electrive reported, citing remarks carried in Slovenian media.

Nissan Pixo EV debuts with 27.5 kWh LFP battery and 259 km WLTP range

Nissan's new Pixo EV runs on a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and delivers up to 259 km of range on the WLTP cycle, according to Electrek. The pack is described as the first LFP battery fitted to a Nissan electric vehicle in Europe.

Electrek reports the city car can recover charge from 15% to 80% in about 28 minutes when connected to a 50 kW DC fast charger.

Stillstrom Picks Semco Maritime to Build Offshore Vessel Charging Equipment Room

Stillstrom by Maersk has signed a letter of intent with Semco Maritime to manufacture a core component of its offshore vessel charging system, moving the design out of engineering and into build, according to Offshore Engineer OEDigital.

Under the agreement, Semco Maritime will produce the local equipment room that houses power, communications and safety controls for Stillstrom's offshore charging infrastructure. Siemens will act as subcontractor, supplying the switchgear and control systems inside the unit.

Offshore Engineer OEDigital reports that fabrication will take place at Semco Maritime's facility in Esbjerg, Denmark, with completion targeted for spring 2027.
