New Jersey fines DataOne USD 1.07 million over unapproved gas generators
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection fined DataOne's Vineland data center USD 1.07 million for using gas-powered generators without approval, Event Registry reported.
The department determined that DataOne violated New Jersey's Air Pollution Control Act by installing and operating 62 generators rated at 1,982 kilowatts each without a preconstruction permit or operating certificate.
A department commissioner described the penalty as New Jersey's largest-ever enforcement action against a data center.
DataOne was given 45 days after receiving the notice to apply for the required permit and certificate.
