Duke Energy weighs up to six small modular reactors at Belews Creek
Duke Energy is considering up to six small modular reactors at Belews Creek Station in Stokes County, North Carolina, according to Event Registry.
An Early Site Permit application has been initiated for Duke Energy's Belews Creek Power station as the company explores nuclear and other alternatives to fossil fuels, Event Registry reported.
The permit gives Duke Energy permission to conduct research but does not authorize construction.
Duke Energy has not selected a technology for the proposed nuclear capacity, according to Event Registry.
