Tesla Patents 'Electric Fan Car' With Four Ducted Fans

Tesla was granted a patent for an "Electric Fan Car" system that uses four electric ducted fans in the rear diffuser to pull the vehicle toward the road at any speed, according to Electrek.

The fans can produce downforce independently of vehicle velocity, which aids braking stability and cornering speed, Tesla says.

The system draws power from the same high-voltage battery pack that drives the wheels, so there is no separate motor or battery for the fans, and they are tied into the car's control system.
