WindEurope Backs Turkey's Electrification Focus at COP31 as Analysts Question Fossil Fuel Plan

Turkey, host and president of COP31, has centered its agenda on electrification rather than making the transition away from fossil fuels a priority for the conference, according to Dialogue Earth.

WindEurope CEO Tinne Van der Straeten backed that focus. She said Turkey's emphasis on electrification at COP31 comes at a particularly important moment as countries face global energy challenges, according to Anadolu Agency.

Policy adviser Paola Yanguas Parra said the country's electrification target has to proceed alongside a fossil fuel transition, and that she had not yet seen that coordination, according to Dialogue Earth.
