Boston sues Trump administration over cancelled USD 20 million EV charger grant

Boston has filed suit against the Trump administration after the US Department of Transportation pulled a USD 20 million federal infrastructure grant, electrive reported.

The money reached the city in 2022 under the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program, a detail electrive attributed to Reuters.

The department scrapped the award in September 2025, saying the project clashed with administration priorities because part of it funded EV charging infrastructure.

The city has taken the matter to the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts, contending the department had no authority to rescind the grant on that ground.
