Yusen Terminals Commits USD 200 Million to Zero-Emission Cargo Equipment at Port of Los Angeles

Yusen Terminals will spend USD 200 million on zero-emission cargo-handling equipment at the Port of Los Angeles, according to electrive.

The commitment comes with a long-term tenancy. electrive reported that the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners approved a 30-year lease with Yusen Terminals, keeping the marine terminal operator at the port through 2056. The equipment spending is tied to that footprint.

Yusen Terminals is owned by container shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE), per electrive.

The scale of road traffic around the terminal gates gives the equipment switch its context. electrive reported that the Port of Los Angeles is served by a fleet of more than 18,000 drayage trucks. Cargo-handling equipment is the on-terminal side of that chain: the yard tractors, cranes, and lifts that move containers between ship, stack, and truck.

Oregon Reopens EV Rebate Program With Funding Expected to Run Out by November 5

Oregon's Clean Vehicle Rebate Program has reopened for eligible vehicles bought or leased through 4 November 2026, according to electrive.

The reopening comes with a short horizon. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality expects this round of funding to run out by then and will suspend the program again by 5 November, electrive reported.

The constraint is the size of the pot. Oregon has limited funds for the rebate program, currently about USD 8.5 million, according to electrive.

Under the standard rebate, buyers receive USD 2,000 for a new all-electric vehicle, USD 1,500 for a new plug-in hybrid and USD 375 for a new electric motorcycle, electrive reported.

A second track targets household income. The charge-ahead rebate for low-income households provides USD 7,500 for a new electric car or USD 5,000 for a new plug-in hybrid, according to electrive.

That structure means a low-income buyer of a new battery-electric car qualifies for a rebate more than three times the standard amount. Applicants working from the standard tier face a purchase or lease deadline of 4 November, with the suspension following the next day.

Switch Mobility Wins 650-Bus Order for Mumbai and Pune Under PM E-Drive

Switch Mobility has secured an order for 650 nine-metre electric buses in India, according to electrive, with delivery under the Ministry of Heavy Industries' PM E-Drive scheme.

The buyer is Sai Green Projects, which will procure the vehicles under a tender run by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and operate them in Mumbai and Pune, Maharashtra, electrive reported.

The split favours the larger city. Of the 650 units, 450 will be low-floor air-conditioned buses for Mumbai, while Pune takes 200 low-floor non-AC vehicles.

On price, Sai Green Projects took the Pune contract with the lowest bid at 55.55 rupees per kilometre excluding GST, according to electrive.

The order sits inside a larger procurement programme. Out of 14,028 electric buses eligible for support under PM E-Drive, CESL closed the Phase I tender covering 10,900 units in December 2025, electrive reported.

On the vehicle itself, the EiV9 uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor rated at up to 213 kW. Switch Mobility offers battery pack options of 183 kWh and 284 kWh, and claims a range of more than 200 kilometres.

Volkswagen ID. Aura T6 Pairs 170 kW Powertrain With Gotion and CATL LFP Packs

Volkswagen's ID. Aura T6 carries a single powertrain specification across every trim, rated at a maximum 170 kW, according to electrive.

The battery supply is split between two cell makers. The entry version runs lithium iron phosphate cells from Gotion High-tech in a 59.9 kWh pack, while higher trim levels switch to CATL lithium iron phosphate cells and a 77.5 kWh pack, electrive reported.

FAW-Volkswagen puts range at 540 km for the smaller pack and 660 km for the larger one, measured on the Chinese test cycle, according to electrive. Those figures follow the domestic cycle rather than any other rating standard.

Underneath sits the CEA electronics and electrical architecture, which Volkswagen developed jointly with Xpeng, electrive reported. The shared architecture ties the vehicle's electrical and software layer to a partnership rather than an in-house platform alone.

The model fits a wider product push. Volkswagen is targeting 30 new vehicles in China by 2027 across its three joint ventures, according to electrive. Splitting cell sourcing between Gotion High-tech and CATL within a single nameplate gives the carmaker two supply lines for the same model line.

With identical output across variants, the differentiation between trims rests on pack size and the resulting range figures rather than on power.

SUN Mobility Opens 35 Battery-Swap Stations in Kenya, Targets 2,500 Across Africa

SUN Mobility has started operating a battery-swapping network in Kenya with 35 stations serving electric two- and three-wheelers from more than ten manufacturers, according to electrive.

The stations are concentrated in two cities. Electrive reports 27 sites in Nairobi and eight in Mombasa.

The company's stated plan reaches well beyond that footprint: more than 2,500 swapping stations across Africa over the next five years, serving more than 160,000 electric vehicles, electrive reported.

For the expansion, SUN Mobility is working with Vivo Energy, a fuel retailer that runs more than 4,200 Shell and Engen stations in 29 African countries, according to electrive.

In South Korea, charging operator Chaevi has been selected to install 131 fast chargers at 29 motorway service areas under a Korea Expressway Corporation project. Electrive, citing the Korea Times, said the chargers are part of the 2026 programme.

The hardware split is 118 fast chargers rated at 200 kW plus 13 multichargers, with 82 of the units carrying the NACS standard established in North America, according to Chaevi as cited by electrive.

Chaevi already runs around 6,000 of its own fast-charging points in South Korea, or roughly 10,000 once infrastructure it manages for other companies and institutions is counted, electrive reported.

Separately, Nissan and Honda signed a cooperation agreement to standardise several electronic control units for next-generation software-driven vehicles. The jointly developed units and software are scheduled for implementation in both companies' next-generation smart cars starting in fiscal year 2029, according to electrive.

MHI Launches TEU Electric Refrigeration Units for European Electric Trucks

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Systems is bringing a range of electrically powered transport refrigeration units to Europe, the TEU series, built specifically for electric trucks, according to electrive.

The units use a modular construction designed to cut space and weight demands on the vehicle. European sales run through Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Thermal Transport Europe, based in Osnabrück, Germany, electrive reported.

MHI puts the savings against its conventional TU series, which pairs the cooling unit with a separate generator. The TEU main unit is said to require around 30 per cent less volume, according to the manufacturer as reported by electrive. The installation opening shrinks by 40 per cent, and weight drops 55 per cent. On a battery-electric truck, both figures bear directly on payload and on the energy drawn from the traction battery.

One variant, the TEU1400MA, carries multiple evaporators. Four different evaporator types of varying sizes can be fitted in a divided cargo area, which lets an operator move goods with different temperature requirements in a single vehicle, electrive reported.
