Coal India unit SECL hires banks for Mumbai IPO of up to USD 800 million

South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, a unit of state-run Coal India Ltd, has hired banks for an initial public offering in Mumbai that could raise as much as USD 800 million, NDTV Profit reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report did not name the mandated banks or set a firm timetable for the listing.

Separately, India's chief economic adviser V Anantha Nageswaran said balance of payments pressure is likely to remain a challenge, citing rising imports, dependence on key commodities, high global interest rates and competition for capital as weights on the external account, according to IPA Newspack.

Power Electronics breaks ground on Houston campus with up to 40 GW capacity

Power Electronics has broken ground on a manufacturing campus in Houston, Texas, Event Registry reported.

Once fully operational, the campus is expected to provide up to 40 GW of annual production capacity and create more than 400 jobs, according to Event Registry.

The facility is designed to become Power Electronics' most automated inverter production factory to date.

Event Registry said the campus would bring the company's worldwide annual production capacity to as much as 105 GW.

Mercuria enters regional power market through Zambia electricity agreement

Mercuria's agreement marks its entry into the regional power market and represents a major private capital commitment to Zambia's electricity sector, Event Registry reported.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the financing will support projects developed by Exergy subsidiaries Lunzua Power Company and Lusitu Transmission and Distribution Company.

Event Registry said Exergy's project pipeline will support Zambia's target of reaching 10,000 MW of electricity supply by 2031.

Samsung C&T agrees up to USD 100 million for Hermes 2

Samsung C&T agreed to provide up to USD 100 million in direct investment and in-kind engineering services for the Hermes 2 Demonstration Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, subject to regulatory approvals, according to Neutron Bytes.

Neutron Bytes reported that Kairos Power and Samsung C&T will collaborate on commercial deployment of Kairos Power's KP-FHR reactor technology.

Samsung C&T also agreed to join Kairos Power's integrated engineering, procurement and construction team, supporting Hermes 2 and future KP-FHR plants, according to Neutron Bytes.

Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center expanded Subsea7's Sakarya Phase 3 role offshore Türkiye to cover floating production unit towing, mooring installation and commissioning support, Offshore Magazine reported.

Under the latest award, Subsea7 will tow the unit, install mooring lines and carry out connection work for commissioning in 2028, according to Offshore Magazine.

Offshore Magazine said Subsea7 will manage engineering for the expanded scope from its Istanbul office.

Armenia electricity production rises 5.3% in January-August 2026

Electricity production in Armenia increased 5.3% in January-August 2026 from the same period in 2025, Event Registry reported, citing the Statistical Committee.

Total generation reached 6,268.4 million kWh during the period, according to Event Registry.

In August 2026, production fell 4% year on year but rose 3.6% from July, Event Registry reported.

Coal India plans expansion into storage, renewables and minerals

Coal India plans to expand into battery storage, renewable and thermal energy, critical minerals, advanced materials, coal gasification and coal-to-chemicals, according to a government of India note published on September 20.

Event Registry reported that Coal India has commissioned about 550 MW of solar capacity.

A 187.5 MW/750 MWh battery energy storage project is under development for TGGENCO at Choutuppal in Telangana, Event Registry reported.

Coal India also intends to use graphite assets in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, along with rare-earth and rare-metal assets in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, according to Event Registry.
